Description
The tree tap is one of the first new inventories in Polycraft, with simple functionality. The tree tap can be attached to a tree of any kind by right clicking, and it is used to obtain PolyIsoPrene, also called natural rubber or latex, which is a core material in building various items and machines. It is recommended that the player crafts multiple and tap many trees to increase productivity. The tree tap behaves as a hopper, which means that you can have multiple tree taps on one tree all feeding to one tree tap.
One bag of PolyIsoprene Pellets are obtained every 2 minutes. If the player uses Jungle tree wood, this is decreased to 1 minute. All faces of a wood block will provide rubber, with no maintenance cost.
In real life, the process of rubber tapping is relatively simple. A small part of a trees bark is stripped and a spout is hammered in, to allow any available natural rubber to pour out into an attached bucket. Trees are commonly only tapped for short periods of time, such as a day or less, before being tapped in another location allowing the tree to replenish its available supply of natural rubber. Much like in Polycraft, trees from certain families produce more rubber, such as the Havea Brasiliensis.
