Description
Upcycling is a phenomenon introduced in Polycraft. It is the reverse of Downcycling. Upcycling enables transition between smaller and larger vessels of the same type of material. In this way, instead of being limited to 64 amounts of materials, Polycrafters have access to 64 raised to 3 possible amounts of materials. This allows for better precision in crafting, refining, distilling, cracking, treating and processing.
Some inventories (Tree Tap, Plastic Chest, Oil Derrick) perform auto-upcycling. This means that the inventories combine like materials into at most three slots for the three different vessel levels. Once an inventory is filled with 64 of the lower level item, it automatically becomes 1 of the next level item.
The player's own 2 x 2 inventory can be used to upcycle. A crafting table can also be used to manually upcycle. A well engineered pipe network with pumps and flow regulators can be used to have a dump chest that upcycles and sorts many different chemicals, polymers and other materials.
