Description

Want to help pay for school by playing Polycraft World? UT Dallas is hosting weekly competitions searching for the "Polycrafter of the Week." Qualified weekly winners will receive $5,000 scholarships to attend UT Dallas. Applicants will be asked to submit short YouTube videos addressing weekly challenges that are posed by the Polycraft Team. Stay tuned for more details!

#8: Texas Cattle Ranch

Release Date: Oct. 22, 2015, noon Central Time
Due Date: Jan. 14, 2016, noon Central Time
Award Date: Feb. 11, 2016

Submission: Video
In a 60-second video, showcase your own Texas Cattle Ranch (with up to and not more than 200 cows). Be creative and don’t lag out the server for your fellow Polycrafters.

To enter this competition, follow these steps:
1. Upload a 60-second video taken on UT Dallas' servers to YouTube.
2. Cut and paste the link to your YouTube video onto the submission page when you are logged in to the Portal.

#7: Center of Attention

Release Date: Oct. 15, 2015, noon Central Time
Due Date: Jan. 7, 2016, noon Central Time
Award Date: Feb. 4, 2016
Type: Social
Submission: Text / Analytics
Have the most 'active' friends on the portal by 1/7/15. Friends are considered 'active' if they are at least a Level 3 Polycrafter. Post a 60 second video (can be spliced) from the server interacting with different friends on the server.

To enter this competition, follow these steps:
1. Upload a 60-second video taken on UT Dallas' servers with your friends to YouTube.
2. Cut and paste the link to your YouTube video onto the submission page when you are logged in to the Portal.


#6: The Fifth Estate

Submission: Text
Submit a designed newspaper about events in Polycraft World. Address social, engineering, architecture and opinions on your server.


#5: Pixel Perfect

Release Date: Oct. 1, 2015, noon Central Time
Due Date: Dec. 25, 2015, noon Central Time
Award Date: Jan. 22, 2016
Type: Arts
Submission: Artwork / Video
Submit a Polycraft World texture pack and 60-second YouTube video that shows off your texture pack you have created. Focus on ores and plastics. Do not use copyrighted material.

To enter this competition, follow these steps:
1. Upload a 60-second video of your creation on UT Dallas' servers to YouTube.
2. Cut and paste the link to your YouTube video onto the submission page when you are logged in to the Portal.
3. Winner must be able to provide texture pack upon request to claim award.


#4: PEEK (from) Oil++

Release Date: Sept. 24, 2015, noon Central Time

Award Date: Jan. 14, 2016
Type: Chemistry
Submission: Video / Analytics
Build the most efficient fully automated plastics processing plant and describe it in a 60-second YouTube video. Disproportionate weight given for producing more sophisticated plastics.

#3: All About That Base

Get the most views on a 60-second YouTube video that shows off the base you have built on your private property.

To enter this competition, follow these steps:
1. Upload a 60-second video of your creation on UT Dallas' servers to YouTube.
2. Cut and paste the link to your YouTube video onto the submission page when you are logged in to the Portal.


#2: Bounce Check

Release Date: Sept. 10, 2015, noon Central Time
Due Date: Dec. 3, 2015, 11 a.m. Central Time
Award Date: Dec. 31, 2015
Type: Engineering
Submission: Video

In a 60-second video, highlight your creativity using bouncy blocks (and perhaps beds, pistons, lava, freeze rays, pressure plates, trip wires and more) built on UT Dallas' Polycraft World servers. Remember, more advanced rubbers let you bounce higher, and this is Texas so bigger is better.

#1: Fall Presence

Release Date: Sept. 3, 2015, noon Central Time
Due Date: Nov. 26, 2015, noon Central Time
Award Date: Dec. 24, 2015
Type: Leadership
Submission: Video / Analytics
Challenge: Have the most people visit your private property between 9/3/2015 and 11/26/2015 and submit a 60-second YouTube video showing off your property. In the unlikely event of a tie, winner will be the Polycrafter that got to that number first.

To enter this competition, follow these steps:
1. Upload a 60-second video of a tour of your private property to YouTube.
2. Cut and paste the link to your YouTube video onto the submission page when you are logged in to the Portal.
3. Our server side analytics will count how many unique visitors enter your private property.
