The Distillation Column is a block in Polycraft World that is primarily used for separating Crude Oil into its base components. As such, this column is essential for crafting many devices and machines in Polycraft. However, aside from Crude Oil, there are many other things that can be distilled using a Distillation Column. The three main distillates of Crude Oil are Benzene-Toluene-Xylene, Gas Oil, and Naphtha. Each of these can be distilled further. Figure 1 shows what you will get by continuing the distillation chain. It's also possible to distill crops into various types of alcohols – though it’s not possible to ingest them. In order to make a Distillation Column, you need to assemble several different parts. You will need a Regulator (Low-Pressure), a Hopper, a Heat Exchanger, two Copper Pipes, a block of Redstone, a Furnace, and a Block of Bronze or other Hard Metal. The process of how to make each of these components is detailed below. You will need access to an Injection Molder and Machining Mill, both of which require fuel (coal) and water to operate. Gather the materials in the list before proceeding – this will speed up the process, as you will do all of the mining at once.

Below are instructions for how to make components that require extra steps, outside of mining, to create. Hovering over each of the images in the recipes will reveal the name of the component. Clicking on the image will take you to the corresponding Wiki page, if you want more detailed information about a specific part.

'''1. Regulator (Low-Pressure)'''
 +
There are several different pressure Regulators (low, medium, high, and extreme), but the Distillation Column only requires the Regulator (low-pressure). The Regulator (low-pressure) requires four Gaskets (Low-Pressure), two Hoses (Low-Pressure), and one piece of Redstone. Refer to the recipe below.

a. '''Gaskets'''
 +
Gaskets can be created from bags of PolyIsoPrene pellets, which can be obtained from Tree Taps. The pellets will populate the Tree Tap as long as you are nearby, so you can collect the rest of the materials while waiting for the pellets to collect. You will need a total of 16 bags of PolyIsoPrene pellets to make the four gaskets in the Injection Molder. Keep in mind that each of the spaces in the Tree Taps can only hold a certain number of pellets (though it will take quite a few hours to fill completely).
 +
 +
You will also need a Mold to make the Gaskets. The Mold consists of 17 ingots of either Bronze, Tungsten Carbide, Aluminum, Brass, Titanium, Cobalt, Manganese, Antimony-Lead, Bismuth, Platinum, Nichrome, Antimony, Magnesium, Stainless Steel, Nickel, Tungsten, or Steel placed in a Machining Mill. Out of these, Aluminum and Manganese will likely be easiest to find. Only one Mold is needed to make all of the Gaskets. The recipe below is for Titanium, but you can substitute any of the metal ingots listed earlier.

You will need a space that is at least 4 feet long, 4 feet wide, and 9 feet tall to set down the distillation column. Right click to place the distillation column on the tile you desire. If it doesn’t set, that means the space you are trying to put it down in is not large enough. Either choose a different location or increase the size of the space before trying again.
 +
 +
Once you’ve set the distillation column down, you can begin distilling items. Like the Machining Mill and Injection Molder, the Distillation Column requires fuel and water to operate. Coal is an abundant fuel source, and will need to be replaced as it is used up. Like the Tree Tap, the Distillation Column will continue to distill materials that are put inside until it either finishes or runs out of fuel, whichever comes first. It also has a limited carrying capacity. You can find several recipes that make use of the Distillation Column below. Happy distilling!

Description

Figure 1: This picture shows the basic distillation tree. The amount of material you get depends on the amount that you are distilling. You can also find a few additional helpful recipes in the tree.

Check it out here.

List of Ingredients

- 17 ingots of a metal of your choice (refer to 1a)

- 16 bags of PolyIsoPrene pellets

- 19 pieces of Redstone

- 36 ingots of Copper

- 5 ingots of Iron

- 1 Chest

- 8 Cobblestone

- 16 ingots of a hard metal of your choice (refer to 7; recommended: Iron)

Creation

Below are instructions for how to make components that require extra steps, outside of mining, to create. Hovering over each of the images in the recipes will reveal the name of the component. Clicking on the image will take you to the corresponding Wiki page, if you want more detailed information about a specific part.

1. Regulator (Low-Pressure) There are several different pressure Regulators (low, medium, high, and extreme), but the Distillation Column only requires the Regulator (low-pressure). The Regulator (low-pressure) requires four Gaskets (Low-Pressure), two Hoses (Low-Pressure), and one piece of Redstone. Refer to the recipe below.

a. Gaskets Gaskets can be created from bags of PolyIsoPrene pellets, which can be obtained from Tree Taps.
